Spices

Use spices!!
Scott K. at Modern Forager wrote a great post on spices. You can read it here.

Using different spices really adds some neat dimension to what would otherwise be pretty ordinary meals. Especially if you cook with coconut oil, it will allow for lots of variety.

Here I made some simple turkey meatballs. Ground turkey, curry powder, dash of chili powder and one egg. I've said it before, look around for some good quality curry powder, the flavor is worth the extra dollar compared to McCormick and similar brands.
Saute the meatballs in some coconut oil, mine were shaped more like little patties, when done add a handful of spinach and stir the spinach with the hot oil till it wilts. Very tasty and satisfying with lots of flavor.

"Change of diet will not help a person who will not change their thoughts. When a person makes their thoughts pure, they no longer desire impure food"
"As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen
This little self help book dating back to the 19th century is as good as anything out there today.
Check it out.
Have an awesome day everyone.

I'm sadly spice free...no reason except I never think to buy them (I'm such a plain eater).

My husband probably thanks you for this post...

The wife and I do one similar to this all the time! We like to do turkey or buffalo meatballs. One thing that we do and you might want to try is to pack veggies in the balls as you are making them too. We like to put onions and bell pepper in ours!

Son,

Yes sir! ;-)
I do the same thing.
Onion is delcious isn't it.
One of the readers, her name is Anna suggested some fresh parmesan also. I tried that and is also very tasty.
I found her recipe in one of the comments;
1.5 - 2 # ground beef, bison, or lamb (or I make a combo of one of these with ground pork)

1 large egg

1-2 tsp dried spices (Italian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, etc.)

ground pepper

about 1/4 c finely diced onions if I have the time (though I do sometimes cheat and add dried minced onions or onion powder if I am really rushed or out of onions)

grated parmesan cheese (but any finely grated hard cheese would do) - I add the cheese last and add it TBL by TBL until the consistency is right, probably about 1/4 cup

Like me, she grills them.

Hey maybe you could just once in a while, post recipes without nightshades and dairy free?? I would be so indebted to you!!

Anyway, once in a while I make meatloaves with a hard boiled egg in the middle. When you cut a slice, its kinda cool!
