In a skillet saute the following in some coconut oil;
Thinly sliced yam and onion. Look at the ratio of onion to yam, use a lot of onion it makes the dish. Add a sprinkle of garlic powder and red pepper flakes and you're done with this quick and tasty one. While that was cooking I grilled a quick piece of steak.
Some sea salt, garlic powder and a brush of light evoo.
Anyone grilling something special for Father's day???

I just love your posts!
We live in the mountains, a long way from any grocery store, and when you eat fresh foods you need some imagination to know what combinations to make, or you seem t alternatively need lots of time to prepare so that you can make sure you have the ingredients you need. What I lack is the imagination. I've had onion and yam sitting around forever and never thought to combine them in this way. I'll definitely try this this week-end! Thanks for the tip!
Monica,
Thank you so much! ;-)
Glad I can help out a little...that's what it's all about.
Where do you live?
Marc
Front Range Mtns. of Colorado. Nearest grocery is around 40 minutes.
We do have a local quik mart type store but it stinks. :) They only sell processed junk. I go there about four times a year when I really need butter or eggs.
Onions and yams - yum!
You know what is a really good but weird combo with yams? Avocado!Mmmmm! It looks pretty together too.
Monica,
40 minutes....I guess planning your shopping becomes very important. But your area is gorgeous...worth the long drive to the market.
Yummy,
avocado and yams...THSNK YOU. now I would have not put those together. How would you make the yams?
Marc
Hi Marc,
I used to just bake the yam and then put a blob of avocado on top like butter. Add a little salt and a sprinkle of lime juice. But you could cook the yam however you want and it would still be a tasty combo I think.
The combo was inspired by a sushi roll I had once called "yummy yam" haha!
Have a great day!! :)
