Smile, be nice and ENJOY your life!

My best friend is in the hospital with ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia)
Since I found out Friday a week ago, I've been thinking about him non-stop.
He's a wonderful person, always smiling and laughing and drawing everyone around him into his sphere of comedy. He has a 2 and a half year old and a 7 month old. He turned 40 (like me) in January. Last year I was involved locally with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society. I did fund raising for the Man & Woman of the Year contest. I had no clue it would hit this close to home exactly a year later. Strange how the world works isn't it?
If you have a second to spare, send some positive thoughts his way. His name is Steve.

Breakfast;
Avocado, lettuce, tomato and bacon salad.

For a late afternoon snack I have packed the following;
honeydew, with shredded romaine lettuce, balsamic vinegar and olive oil drizzle. No idea if it will be any good, but it just "creatively" came out in the kitchen this morning. Some almonds to go along with that.

Pictures to return tomorrow.

sending warmth and positive thoughts and love! Cancer is a nasty sucker...been there, done that...But prayer, love and healing helped me overcome it.

Marc,

Please pass on to Steve that there are some positive thoughts for him emanating from Corpus Christi.

Thank you guys! Much appreciated!
It's a real bummer, but he's got a great attitude.

I have been thinking about your friend Steve too. Hope he stays strong and positive. Share some of your delicious meals with him whenever you can Marc. I know that would brighten my day!

Thank you so much Steve!
I (and my friend even more) really appreciate it.

He lives in NYC and I'm in Florida,
but I WILL cook for him when I go visit in the next weeks.
Thanks again.
I'l be back to posting and pictures this weekend.

Thanks so much Marc. Really appreciate your kind words and support. I have been following your blog for quite some time now and really enjoy your style. While everyone else seems to be making this stuff more complicated, you have a way to simply it while making easily digestible (yet enjoyable as ever). I really look forward to future posts (the pics are great!) and will certainly continue to tell others about your site. Also, I'm headed down to New Symrna Beach over Memorial Day with a few friends (its a tradition we started since going down there for my bachelor party!). Wondering if you have any good local food spots nearby that you can recommend. Any good restuarents that you know of in and aro the Daytona Beach area? If you happen to be near there over Mem Day wkend let me know so we can meet up.

Steve,

I'm not to familiar with that area. Good place to party ;-)
As to the food, don't really know of any restaurants......stick to yummy grilled grouper. Everything else around there will most likely be fried ;-)
Where I'm located is just before the Everglades. The South west tip. (Naples)
Have a great time when you go!

I sponsored one of your kids.
